There are four basic items that you need to know to pass civil service examinations. These four things require that you focus on passing your test and stay motivated right from the moment you apply for a job with the civil service.

1. Know the job requirements

You will increase your chances of passing your examination if you know all about the job you are applying for. This is important both for entry level candidates and promotional candidates.

Another useful method is to read materials available from the job requirements. Find out about your duties and responsibilities in the job you seek. Even for promotion candidates, you need to remind yourself of these aspects of your job in order to succeed.

2. Understand the different tests in the civil service examinations

The next step is to know what to expect in the exam for your job. Civil service examinations have different sections that depend on the particular job you want.

These may include multiple choice tests and essay tests that evaluate your ability in subjects such as English spelling and grammar, arithmetic, statistics and so on. Written tests are compulsory for all job positions since they are the basics you need to function properly as an employee.

3. Prepare adequately using the right study materials

Now that you know the types of tests to expect, the next thing you need to do is to get every resource available to you for practice. 4. Mental and physical preparation is important

Taking such a comprehensive test as to get one of these jobs is a big deal. It can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you feel that you have not struck a balance between study time, work and family time.
